01

The ask

Give a grassroots NGO a front door that donors, partners and volunteers can trust. SHIFSD was started in 2000 by Liberian refugees in Ghana. It now runs education, agriculture and livelihood work across Liberia.

02

The website

One site for three pillars, three institutions and every kind of supporter. I designed and built it myself from scratch: design, front end and back end. Every page leads somewhere useful: partner, volunteer, give, or read the strategic plan.

03

From website to brand

Building the site showed that the brand needed work too. The old logo was a photo of a palm tree inside a ring of text, hard to use small or on screen, so I proposed a full rebrand.

04

The mark

I pitched new symbols. They chose the palm, and I made it stronger: seven real palm leaves, “fresh and flourishing”, with the name around the ring.

05

The system

A guide that lets SHIFSD use the brand without me. 51 pages on the logo suite, colour, type, tone of voice, photography, co-branding and applications, and 95 logo files. The website uses the same colours and type.
